No Cheese, No Bechamel

No Cheese, No Bechamel

I told TJ one day last week, after we met for breakfast at Tandem while our kids were at school, that as long as he lets me keep going to Tandem as much as I want, that’s all I need. That’s not really true, but I sure find a lot of joy in going to eat good food with good friends. Tandem is my welcoming committee that just won’t quit.

No Baths

No Baths

I have two close friends who take baths almost every night, but I never take baths. Who has the time? Then again, my friends would probably say, Who has the time not to? After a recent conversation with a gal from church about Epsom salt - or is it salts? - I am open to that possibility. Otherwise, my bathtub will continue to be used as a closet.

My friend Phyllis told me recently about the “Robcast,” a podcast by Rob Bell. TJ and I have enjoyed Rob Bell’s books in years past and saw him on tour twice, but without meaning to, we lost track of what he was doing after he moved to CA. I am so thankful to be looped back in now.

No-Cereal Cereal

No-Cereal Cereal

I went through a phase of having steamed broccoli with butter for lunch, and then it was avocado toast and beet smoothies for a while. In recent months, my lunch of choice has consistently been a bowl of No-Cereal Cereal. As I’ve gotten more content eating a low-carb breakfast of fried eggs or a veggie omelet instead of the Mocha Glo Bars I used to constantly crave, I am feeling good and ready by lunchtime for something sweet.

No Reason Why

No Reason Why

I am thankful to have had space this morning to begin to pray and journal about the upcoming Advent season. I was thinking of words and phrases that I hope embody our family’s celebration of Christmas this year: simple, joyful, focused on serving others, welcoming Jesus and others into our home.
