About a week ago, Story had a huge crying meltdown that lasted for a while due to her disappointment over not getting to play Nerf football in the rec room with the boys during a break from homeschool.

I wasn’t sure I was going to post my “19 for 2019” list, but after having breakfast this morning with my friend and fellow writer Missy, I decided to err on the side of blogging today. I am still in neutral after quite a lot of focused writing time last year, and I’m not sure what’s next.

I imagine it might make some people depressed to think they are doing the same thing on this December 27th as they were doing on this date last year. My one-sentence journal reveals that I am very much the same person now as I was a year ago, and I am not depressed at all.

It was written on a dumpster, of all places. Was the person who did this laughing at the irony, or in all seriousness, trying to send a message? Could there be a more appropriate spot to make just such a point than on a beat-up dumpster in a weedy corner of a parking lot in downtown Tulsa? Something in me said Yes to this proclamation of truth.
