I think this applies to people, recipes, and activities as well. Every year is another chance at discovery and delight.
Last year this time, I had no Sarah P. or Shannon W. in my life. Now they are two favorites in my friend collection.
I am on a Gretchen Rubin kick. She reminds me that it’s okay to construct my life and my habits on the foundation of who I am. This is not to say I shouldn’t regularly push past my own self-regard to give attention to others. But I also shouldn’t feel bad if I prefer walking the hills in my Greenville neighborhood to walking the Great Wall.
I have been asking for months what my purpose in writing is. In my current re-read of Gretchen Rubin's Better than Before, one particular line jumped out at me that I think may help me answer the question about writing. In the chapter on clarity, Rubin says, "Once I've spelled out the problem in words, the greater clarity usually helps me to spot a solution."
I have been thinking a lot about MealBaby the past few weeks. MealBaby is the meal registry website that TJ and I created back in 2008 around the time Cash was born. Since its inception, the website has been a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, celebrations and frustrations. Because neither TJ nor I know how to write code and develop websites, we have had to rely on the abilities (+ interest + motivation + responsiveness) of others.
