Barring the strike of sickness, I have Thursdays to myself. It is joyful, blissful time, time I spend mostly in my room, with a Modern Forestry candle, books, quotes, lists, and no noise but a space heater and the keyboard clicks.
Who Could Not Be Happy?
I strongly resist a challenge or a change, but in reality, these are some of the best things for my heart. I had to deal with Sailor's case of pinworms recently, on top of home renovations that are taking over my space (both physical and mental), and then there were ants in the apartment. In TJ's absence, I had to stand on a chair, spray ant killer all around, and wipe dead ants off the walls.
Whatever You Do
My friend Heather recently introduced me to a new podcast called “The Next Right Thing” by Emily P. Freeman. I am hesitant to foray much into the world of Christian writers’ podcasts, simply because at times, I find it difficult to discern whether these voices encourage me or actually discourage me in my own writing.
Those Who Touched Our Skirt
Another theme of which Alexander McCall Smith writes frequently in his stories, and that I failed to mention in this previous post, concerns the moral responsibility we have toward those with whom we come in contact. Reading his books (and re-reading the many quotes I’ve copied from his books) should propel me to this right end of concern for those in my field of vision.
Big Thoughts
I have read many, many books by Alexander McCall Smith. I just counted up to 53 of them in my little notebook where I keep a record of all the books I've read since 2005. That was the year Bauer was born and the year I read my first AMS book: The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency.
