Another List
In case you still aren’t list-satisfied, what about a Ta-Da list? Gretchen Rubin taught me this one too. Here’s her podcast episode about it if you want to know more, but the basic idea is that, instead of a “To-Do” list telling you what to do, you make a “Ta-Da” list celebrating the things you have already done.
Quick, true story: I was already planning to write my blog post on this topic today. Yesterday afternoon, a friend texted me this: “Also, I’m going to start writing down what I do. I think I can feel bad/guilty about not getting things done and then when I start to think about it - I’m like, “no, I’ve done way more than that!” I couldn’t believe the timing!
On my Ta-Da list for today:
1-Ran 3 miles
2-Cleaned my bathroom
3-Made chocolate quinoa muffins for tomorrow’s breakfast
4-Listened to two “Raising Boys and Girls” podcast episodes recommended by a friend
5-Did the Bible Recap (Bible reading and podcast)
6-Put a surprise note in Story’s lunchbox (first time this school year)
7-Caught up on Marco Polos
8-Wrote down the girls’ lesson plans for school tomorrow
9-Wrote this blog post
10-Celebrated TJ’s birthday!!! Long live TJ!!
11-And most exciting of all….Received Anne Lamott’s new book, which I preordered back in September. I told TJ it’s the present I bought myself for his birthday. I won’t even crack the book’s spine yet because it feels too special to open. I just need to hold it and look at it for a while. I might even say “Ta-Da!” in its presence once or twice.
